Second year head football coach Ryan Walters landed his biggest commit during his tenure, as Purdue got a verbal commitment from Tennessee standout Tarrion Grant.

Grant, a four star, 6-foot-3-inch, 175-pound cornerback from Siegel High School (TN) announced the commitment on Jan. 14 on his social media. Grant is ranked as the third ranked player in the Volunteer State, seventh best cornerback in America in the Class of 2025 and 50th best overall player in the Class of ’25, according to 247Sports.

Grant opted for the Boilermakers over the likes of Virginia Tech, LSU, Oregon and Louisville. He received an offer from Florida State after announcing his final five. He also held offers from Big Ten rivals Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon and Wisconsin.

Grant, who didn’t start playing football until his freshman year of high school, has finished high school, but he reclassified for 2o25 and will enroll in January of 2025 at Purdue.

This past season, Grant notched 35 tackles and five passes deflected on 12 targets. He reeled in 28 catches for 405 yards and four touchdowns, lifting Siegel to the state playoffs.

Grant is the fourth commitment for Purdue in the Class of ’25, joining three star quarterback Sawyer Anderson, three star defensive end Keylan Abrams and three star running back Ziaire Stevens.
