Purdue Women’s Basketball: Boilers add pair of transfers

Published

on

With no returning starters for next season, the Purdue women’s basketball team has hit the transfer portal hard.

And, it has paid off nicely for head coach Katie Gearlds and the Boilermakers. Purdue women’s basketball recently welcomed two new additions in Akron transfer Reagan Bass and former Marian guard Ella Collier. The duo joins former UTEP player Mahri Petree and former Stephen F. Austin’s Destini Lombard.

Bass opted for Purdue women’s basketball over Iowa State and Mississippi State. Bass earned All-MAC First Team honors as a sophomore and followed that up with All-MAC Second Team honors last year. Bass averaged just over 15 points, 7.9 rebounds and a block per contest.

Collier is a two-time NAIA National Player-of-the-Year at Marian, where she played all four years. In addition, she was a four time All-American at Marian, and she was the all-time leading scorer. Collier averaged 19 points, 2.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds last season for Marian.

Gearlds coached Collier at Marian during the 2020-21 season.
