Two seasons in, former Purdue football standout George Karlaftis is having quite the NFL career.

The Kansas City Chiefs defensive end, who recorded double digit sacks this year, made his presence felt early in the Super Bowl Sunday, helping lift the Chiefs to a 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers. It was the second consecutive championship for the former Purdue football defensive end Karlaftis.

The Greek native wasted little time making his impact felt, recovering a Christian McCaffrey fumble on the opening drive for the 49ers. It marked the second straight game Karlaftis recovered a fumble, as he did the same against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game.

“I’m just blessed to be here. It is a blessing to be a part of a situation like this and to be able to go to the Super Bowl back to back,” Karlaftis said leading up to the Super Bowl.

In the Super Bowl, Karlaftis finished with the sack and five tackles and shook off a finger injury.
