In-state talent takes PWO to Purdue

For Greenfield-Central (IN) standout Reese Hill, playing football at the next level was always a dream. He has achieved that by taking a Preferred Walk-On opportunity to Purdue.

“It’s great. It has been a childhood dream of mine to not only play college football, but to play at Purdue. It is amazing to see all the hard work pay off,” Hill told Boiler Wire.

In 11 games this past season, Hill had 38 tackles, 23 of which were solo stops, three sacks and six tackles for a loss. Reese Hill also had a PWO from Ball State and an offer from Butler, Indiana Wesleyan, and Marian.

Purdue made it feel like home

As for what made Purdue the school for him, Hill said it was “home.”

“Purdue is a place where it feels like home, and that is something I was big on in the process. Finding a place that felt right. It also helps that I grew up a Purdue fan,” Hill said.

Hill said once Purdue’s opportunity came, it was time to end his recruitment.

“I had always known that Purdue was number 1 when the chance came,” Hill said.

Hill was recruited to play interior defensive line, a place where he admits he has the most opportunity for potential and growth.

“It is definitely always an adjustment for anyone making the jump into college ball. The speed of the game is just that much faster. We have always played against good competition in high school, many of which have or are going to the next level. That will definitely be helpful when getting used to playing good competition all the time,” Hill said.
