A pair of former Purdue football standouts have hung up their cleats and have joined the staff of an NFL team.
Both linebacker Ryan Kerrigan and quarterback David Blough have joined the staff of the Washington Commanders, where they will team up with Dan Quinn.
For Kerrigan, he stays with the franchise that he cut his NFL teeth with as a player and will serve as Assistant Linebackers/Pass Rush Specialist.
In his NFL career, Kerrigan played for both Washington and Philadelphia. He was a first round pick of Washington in 2011 and immediately made an impact, intercepting New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and returning the interception for a game winning touchdown. He played in four Pro Bowls, finished with 95.5 sacks, which is the most in Washington history, 457 total tackles, 26 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, three interceptions and three touchdowns.
Also joining the staff is former Purdue football quarterback David Blough, who played with the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals.
Blough is the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Commanders. In his NFL career, Blough was 138-of-242 for 1,435 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions.
