Purdue Women’s Basketball: Boilers to play Kentucky

Published

on

The Purdue women’s basketball knows a portion of its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

The Boilermakers will host SEC opponent Kentucky on December 14 to start a home and home series. Purdue women’s basketball will make the trip to Kentucky during the following 2025-26 campaign.

Purdue women’s basketball holds a 2-0 advantage in the series. The last time the two teams played was 2000, when the Boilermakers earned an 87-67 win over the Wildcats. This will mark the first time Kentucky has traveled to Mackey Arena to play.

While Katie Gearlds will be back with Purdue as coach, Kentucky will open the season with a new coach. Kenny Brooks was hired away from Virginia Tech and inherits a team that will feature the likes of Georgia Amoore and Clara Strack, both of whom came from Virginia Tech. In addition, the Wildcats feature former Purdue women’s basketball standout Lindsey Hicks, who is the associate head coach. Hicks was a member of the 2001 team, which advanced to the national championship.

Purdue finished the 2023-24 season with a 67-59 loss to Vermont in the WNIT Elite Eight. The Boilermakers finished the season 15-19 under Gearlds.
