Fresh off a season that saw Purdue women’s basketball advance to the WNIT Elite Eight, the Boilermakers are headed to Europe later this year.
Purdue women’s head coach Katie Gearlds announced recently the Boilermakers would head to Europe for an international tour in early August. While in Europe, Purdue women’s basketball will play in two places Gearlds is familiar with — Portugal and Spain. Gearlds played professionally in both European countries during her career.
Purdue is schedule to visit Barcelona, Porto and Lisbon, Portugal during the trip. During the visit, the Boilermakers will take part in three games. Opponents and dates will be determined later.
The Boilermakers finished the season with a loss to Vermont in the WNIT Elite Eight, and while they lose quite a bit of experience and talent, Purdue women’s basketball brings back several young players who got quality minutes this season.
