If a pair of commitments are any indication, the future could be very bright for Purdue football.
Head coach Ryan Walters and the Boilermakers picked up commitments from Class of 2026 quarterback Oscar Rios and Class of 2025 offensive lineman Cameron Gorin recently.
California signal caller commits to Boilermakers
Rios took to social media to announce his commitment and the decision came on the heels of an unofficial visit to Purdue football for the Downey (Cal.) quarterback. Rios opted for the Boilermakers over the likes of Auburn, Kansas, Washington, Utah, Michigan State, Nebraska, California, Arizona State and San Diego State, among others. The signal caller is the 36th overall prospect in the state of California for the Class of ’26.
As a sophomore, Rios threw for over 2,600 yards, 23 touchdowns, five interceptions and completed over 70 percent of his throws. In addition, he added another 767 yards and seven trips to the end zone by way of his legs.
In-state lineman very familiar with Purdue football
As for Gorin, the Hamilton Southeastern (IN) standout is no stranger to the Boilermakers. His father, Brandon, played for Purdue football and then enjoyed an NFL career that featured time with the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.
Gorin selected Purdue football over the overtures from Indiana, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Louisville, among others.
He is rated as one of the top offensive linemen in the Hoosier State in the Class of ’25 and has played a key role in the success the Royals have enjoyed in recent seasons.
