Purdue basketball recruit Daniel Jacobsen was one of 30 players invited by USA Basketball for a spot on its U18 National Team.
Jacobsen’s invite means he will be part of the U18 National Team training camp in Colorado Springs later this month. During the camp, the team will be whittled down to 12 to compete in the 2024 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup, which will be played in June in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The distinction for Jacobsen marks another milestone for Purdue basketball, as the Boilermakers have been well represented in the past on the team. Purdue basketball player Myles Colvin played in the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup in Hungary. Standouts Jaden Ivey and Caleb Furst captured the gold for Team USA and Zach Edey earned a bronze for Canada three years ago. Former Purdue basketball standouts Trevion Williams, Carsen Edwards and Caleb Swanigan all played for Team USA.
As for Jacobsen, who is 7-foot-3-inches, he helped guide Brewster Academy (New Hampshire) to a national ranking of ninth in the SCNext Top 20 high school rankings. As one of the top 100 players in the country, Jacobsen has reclassified from the Class of 2025 to the Class of 2024 and will arrive in West Lafayette in June.
