Purdue football coach Ryan Walters utilized the NCAA Transfer Portal to success during the offseason, retooling both the offensive line and wide receiver rooms.
However, with the spring game behind the Boilermakers and the transfer portal open, one has to ask, what does the future look like for the Purdue football team. The spring portal will be open for 15 days.
Walters said prior to the Purdue football spring game the transfer portal was a lot like Wall Street.
“Who knows, right? It’s like Wall Street and you have to go with the market. I am sure we will have some guys in the portal we didn’t expect, but I like our locker room right now. I think the locker room likes being here and the way program is structured, but who knows. We will be ready for whatever transpires. We will take advantage of the rules and put together the best roster possible to chase a championship,” Walters said.
Walters said he has been “transparent, open and honest” when meeting with players.
After the Purdue football spring game, Walters said the portal is what’s next.
“That’s what next, right? To see what happens on Tuesday with our team and other guys as well. We will adjust and attack the situation and needs accordingly,” Walters said.
Purdue football opens the season Aug. 31 at home against Indiana State.
