Purdue Football: Two more Boilers hit the Transfer Portal

Two more members of the Purdue football team have hit the transfer portal.

Inside linebacker Clyde Washington is now in the transfer as a grad transfer, while freshman defensive end DJ Allen has also put his name in the portal. The two join former Purdue football players Ethon Cole and Christian Womack in the portal.

Washington played in all 12 games for the Boilermakers last fall. He started three games and ended with 21 tackles, and has undergone shoulder surgery. During his Purdue football career, he played in 27 games and notched 42 tackles and four interceptions.

Washington was a Purdue legacy, as his grandfather played for the Boilermakers. His departure now leaves Kydran Jenkins, Yanni Karalftis, Owen Davis and Winston Berglund at the inside linebacker position this season.

As for Allen, he enters the portal with all four years of eligibility to use at his next school.

Allen opted for Purdue football over the likes of Louisville, Indiana, Central Florida, Maryland and Texas A&M, among others. Allen’s departure leaves the Boilermakers with sophomore Will Heldt and transfers CJ Madden, Jireh Ojata and Shitta Sillah at the rush end position.

The spring transfer portal will close April 30.

Purdue football opens the 2024 season at home on Aug. 31 when it hosts Indiana State at Ross-Ade Stadium.
