As the season approaches, Pro Football Focus has announced its Big Ten Conference quarterback rankings, and it is good news for Purdue football.

PFF analyst Dalton Wasserman recently ranked all 18 quarterbacks ahead of the season and was pretty high on where Purdue football quarterback Hudson Card sat in the rankings.

Wasserman put new Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel as the top quarterback in the Big Ten Conference, just ahead of Penn State signal caller Drew Allar.

Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, Southern California’s Miller Moss and Ohio State’s Will Howard rounded out the top five.

Washington quarterback Will Rogers was sixth, Indiana’s Kourtis Rourke was seventh, while Purdue football’s Hudson Card was ranked eighth. Card was followed by Luke Altmyer, of Illinois, and UCLA’s Ethan Garbers.

Card enters the 2024 campaign fresh off a banner season last year under Purdue football coach Ryan Walters. Card threw for 217 yards per Big Ten game last year. He finished the season with 2,387 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Furthermore, Card picked up 203 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

While Purdue football finished 4-8, Card played through several injuries during the season. They became so severe he was forced out of the lineup against Northwestern. However, down the stretch, Card showed signs of greatness, as he lifted Purdue football past Minnesota and Indiana.

Card was near flawless against Minnesota, throwing for 251 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 44 yards and a trip to the end zone on the ground. Purdue football beat Minnesota, 49-30.

In the Old Oaken Bucket Game, Card threw for another 275 yards and three touchdowns, and added 85 yards and a touchdown on the ground en route to a 35-31 win.
