As he prepares for his second Big Ten Media Days event, Purdue football coach Ryan Walters is bringing quite a contingent of Boilermakers with him to this month’s event at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Big Ten Media Days will take place from July 23 until July 25, with Purdue football set to meet with the media July 23. Joining Walters in Indianapolis will be quarterback Hudson Card, linebacker Kydran Jenkins and center Gus Hartwig. Purdue football will be joined on day one by Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Rutgers.
The second day of the Big Ten Media Days features Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, UCLA and Southern California, while the final day kicks off with Indiana and features Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, Oregon and Washington.
Three key pieces will represent Boilers at Media Days
Card is the face of the Purdue football offense and is ready for a promising season under center. In his first season under center, Card threw for 2,387 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while adding another 200 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
As for Jenkins, he led the Boilermakers with 15-and-a-half tackles for a loss to go along with 57 tackles and seven and a half sacks. Against Nebraska, he registered a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Hartwig is back with Purdue football after battling injuries. Despite the injuries, the center was able to start nine games for the Boilermakers and has 36 career starts for Purdue football.
After going 4-8 last year, Purdue will look to contend for a bowl berth in a new Big Ten Conference under Walters. Purdue football kicks off the season Aug. 31 at Ross-Ade Stadium against Indiana State.
