The Purdue football team added another player to its roster ahead of the 2024 football season.
Purdue gained a commitment from former Illinois State long snapper Claude Strnad. Strnad, a redshirt freshman, made his announcement on social media.
“After a great camp, I’m grateful to announce my commitment to Purdue. Excited to get to work,” Strnad wrote on X.
Having redshirted last year, Strnad will have all four seasons available with Purdue football. As a high school football player, Strnad was a long snapper and played offensive line at Loyola Academy in Illinois.
Strnad’s commitment is second of the offseason at the long snapper position for Purdue football.
The Boilers added former William & Mary long snapper Nick Levy earlier this year.
Levy’s joining Purdue comes on the heels of the Boilermakers adding former Mississippi State punter Keelan Crimmins through the portal.
When he committed, Crimmins posted on X, “Can’t wait to see what long snapper jumps in the portal to join me and this very talented specialist room.”
Levy will arrive to Purdue football with two years of eligibility remaining.
What will the rest of the specials team room look like is a question for Purdue football
With two long snappers now on the roster, Purdue football coach Ryan Walters can figure out the rest of the special teams room.
Crimmins joins sophomore walk-on Bennett Boehnlein as the lone punters. Ben Freehill is the lone placekicker and was 6-of-11 last year on field goals. Freshman Spencer Porath is slated to join the Boilermakers in the fall and handled both punting and kicking duties at Brownsburg High School (IN).
