Former Purdue basketball standout Zach Edey has moved one step closer to participating in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Edey was selected as one of 20 players to attend training camp for Canada Basketball in preparation for the games, which will be part of the Paris Olympics. The former Purdue basketball big man will work with the Canadian squad from June 28 until July 7.
The list of players invited to Canada Basketball’s training camp is an impressive one and features current NBA standouts RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Andrew Wiggins, Trey Lyles and Andrew Nembhard, who plays for the Indiana Pacers.
Edey was part of Purdue basketball’s magical run last season, as he helped guide the Boilermakers to an appearance in the national championship game. Edey averaged just over 25 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists for Purdue basketball last season. The Canadian standout was a two time National Player of the Year and helped the Boilermakers lock up a Big Ten regular season title. For his career, Edey scored over 2,500 points and pulled down over 1,300 rebounds.
Edey is currently participating in pre-draft workouts for several NBA teams and is expected to be taken in the first round of the NBA Draft, which begins June 26.
